Jerry: SAE 90wt gear lube is what is called for in the Owners Manual. Hy-Tran is a a Hydraulic Fluid which is used primarily in the Touch Control System and by some in the Transmission. Personally, Hy-Tran is only used in my TC Unit. Whoever told you to use Hy-Tran in the rear end needs to re-read the Owner"s Manual. It is way to thin for any application like that.
