Thanks for replies. It was interesting reply that sounds like sucking air. The engine does surge like a vacuum leak. I checked around carb and intake with propane but found nothing. If I rev engine up runs pretty good. Surge is usually at idle. Sometimes at mid throttle will run well then stumble and clear up. Could my intake manifold have a hole inside between intake and exhaust ports? How could I check this? I don't know if related, but a month ago I over heated it. Started smoking like burning oil out exhaust. I shut it down right away and had radiator boiled out at a shop. Has not overheated since but now will smoke at start up and then cleans up. Sometimes driving will smoke a bit every now and then. Any ideas? Thank you all for your help.
