1946 in particular. Red pigment was in short supply so they started with an almost plum color and added yellow to redded it up. The yellow outlasted everything else. The paint would begin to turn orange and would be closer to yellow before it quit fading. I agree with you, that may be a strong possibility depending on the year of the tractor.
