Buzz: Cylinders will work double action at least for a little while. The lift linkage on loader wont take it though. The intention of return lines on those old loaders was to catch any oil bypassing in cylinders and return it to resovoir.

My dad bought a new H with a 31 in 1951. Used on belly pump it had dual lines for the return oil. IH dealer later installed the loader on a new 300 for dad and set valve for single action. We changed valve one day to see what would happen. Believe me the loader lift linkage will not take it.
