I have a W-D9, steers hard with some play in steering also. The steering arm that goes up to the left front wheel has a cotter pin in the end, pull it out and in the end of the arm is a slotted cap or plug try to scew it in snug make sure the slots line up where the cotter pin goes in., thats what keeps the plug from unscrewing. There should be a grease fitting on it also. The tie rod ends have brass bushings in them, mine are worn and causes some sloppiness also. The biggest problem is most likely the worm gear in the steering box, same kind of wear as an H&M get after a million miles. Enough rambbling on from me, hope some of this helps. Doug
