First slowly crank the engine (by hand) until the first of the two timing marks is aligned with the timing pointer. The magneto should trip just as the mark passes the pointer. If it does not trip by the time you get to the pointer, leave the engine set at TDC (first timing mark aligned), loosen the magneto adjusting bolts, and slowly roll the top of the magneto toward the engine until it trips. Tighten it up and check it by rollong the engine over again. If it has already tripped, loosen it and move the top away from the engine. Then crank to TDC and move the magneto in until it trips. If the magneto has been disassembled or is from another tractor, you will have to determine TDC on No. 1 and make sure the rotor is pointed toward the No. 1 post.
