The Rustoleum name pretty much means nothing anymore. They have delved into so many off shoots of paint types, and watered down their "Stops Rust" credo to the point of stupidity. In the old days the original Rustoleum was a fish oil based paint that skimmed over very shiny and slippery, and kept moisture away. However, that skimming process made the paint underneath very soft and sometimes years later, runs would still be wet! The paint could not be covered over with any conventional paints because of its slippery surface, thus using Rustoleum as a undercoat for normal automotive paints was useless. In recent years,Rustoleum as gotten into water based paints, and VOC compliant finishes. In fact next year, most spray coatings will be controlled by VOC rulings, and the common Krylon and PlastiKote will be history in compliant states.Tractors that are left outside need protection of the highest order.Activated finishes or clear coated systems are the only ways to go.
