Hi Paul, I'm not familiar with 340 but we had a 300U back in the late 50's and it had a screen on the suction line of the hydraulic pump. This screen would become clogged and stop all hydraulic function. The screen is located in the reservoir under the seat. Now if the 340 is the same with the hydraulic reservoir under the seat and the hydraulic control valves located at your right hand beside the seat, then you have to remove the seat, then there is about a dozen bolts around the perimeter of the top of the reservoir that have to be removed, then you can remove the top of the reservoir. CAUTION: The top of the reservoir is VERY HEAVY and it has to be lifted straight up to prevent damaging the hydralic suction screen. It has been 40 years since I last did this so check the archives, I believe someone had given great details how to remove and clean this screen for 300/350U. JB2
