Paul: I have looked at all your photos. First I must say Pete is correct, I have never seen one of these pumps mounted under distributor on a 340. The C-135 engine though would have provission for such a pump. The front pump I refered to in my earlier post is the pump which operates your loader, and yes those were very common especially with Wagner loaders. On the left side photo of control valves, someone has at some point removed a valve. That shouldn't affect any operation of balance of system. My e mail is exposed, could either post or send me a photo of the right side of torque tube, basically 1' fore and aft of brake pedals. I realize this may be a difficult photo as loader may obstruct a bit. I'm looking for what I know to be common on 340 tractors. Getting back to your original problem, my first reaction is pump problems on pump that powers steering and rear hitch. I'm still not completely satisfied your tractor is factory original, just might be some backyard engineering in there. Since your going to be doing more photos take one of hitch at rear, including any remote rear hydraulic outlets.
