Are you sure you have the correct points for that
engine? If they are, you may need to run a point file through them. Have you installed new plugs lately? They may be breaking down under load if they haven't been changed lately. New plugs wires may in order too.

When you install those new points again, remove the coil wire from the distr. cap and with the ignition switch on, hold the coil wire within 1/4" of a ground on the engine and with the points closed snap them open a couple of times
and see if you're getting a good spark from that coil wire. If you are, the engine should run.

You may need to open the main jet adjusting screw CCW on the carburetor to see if the it's set too lean. Look that distr. cap over very carefully
for any cracks. Hal
