Jerry: Sometime these are a bit difficult to get out of gear. I find the easiest way is using an anchor vehicle and set of come alongs. You may need to apply pressure one direction, if that doesn't work try the other direction. You should be able to do this without removing transmission top. Just take off the shift lever tower. The presure one way or other will make it possible to slide those shift rails with a large screwdriver, real easy. It may also come real easy without presure, just depends on revolution on cogs when it went in two gears. The end of gear shift lever probably needs to be built up with weld. Get it the size of notch in one rail, so it can't get from one rail to next without being at neutral. I like to build these a bit oversize, then grind until it shifts smooth.
