IH 966 Hydro?

A neighbor wants to sell me his 966. It needs all tires replaced and it also needs batteries.
The tractor has some blowby, but runs well. He says that the hydro works well until it heats up.
He wants $2200 for it and I know nothing about hydros. Are they an expensive fix or would an oil change and a couple of filters fix the problem? Thanks in advance for any advise.
