Help, 1950 Cub gear noise when hot???

Recently my 1950 cub makes a heck of a racket in 1st gear when she gets worked hard (I use it to spread dirt w/ a York Rake)...after an hour or so of working, she ,makes a racket, I park her till next day & it's fine for an hour or so??? Anyone ever had this trouble before??? She still works fine, but, she's an old girl & I don't want to damage her. I changed gear oil in spring, I used an 80W-90W, should I go thicker in this warm weather? I usually changed the gear oil every other spring & I've never had trouble, never had noise until this year. "Help" please, from the coast of Maine.
