Depends if it's a early or late model. Early models can't be adjusted without removing the final drive. The manual says that if they rotate without any excessive binding or endplay, they're fine. If the endplay seems excessive, remove one .007" shim and re-check. Late models can be adjusted after removing just the brake, but it's kind of hard to describe the procedure. The way I read it, there should be no more than .007" endplay on a early model and zero endplay on a late model. You'll never get the brake seals to hold with loose bull pinion bearings.
