Joe, start by rebuilding your loader cylinders. The control valves on a 240 are spool valves. The sealing inside the valve is accomplished by machining the spool to a precision fit inside the housing bore, which makes the spool and housing a matched set. Aside from the seals at the end of the valve, which just prevent oil from leaking externally and dirt from entering, there's nothing you can replace inside the valve to stop leakage. It takes a special tool to reassemble the detent anyway. How fast does your loader settle? If we're talking a few hours, that's pretty much normal. You can't expect these valves to seal 100%, and it's not very safe to leave your loader or other implements off the ground when you're not using the tractor anyway.
