Joe, I gotta agree with Nat. It must be EITHER the switch went bonkers or its not wired correct or its not grounded. 1) If its a battery powered coil ignition it will run the battery down and overheat the coil left setting ON like that. A switch for a coil ignition ought to have a BAT input terminal fed from the battery maybe off the ammeters load (NOT to battery) terminal via the starter switch post etc. and an IGN terminal thats hot when switched to ON 2) If its a Magneto ignition it wont bother the battery and the problem is EITHER the switch is bad,,,,,,,,or miswired,,,,,,,,,or the switch may not be getting a good ground !!!!!!!! A mag kill switch works by dead grounding the points, so the switch needs a good wire up from the mag to the switch plus a good switch THAT HAS A GROUND CONNECTION.
