Tower Hyd on Super M

Having been used to the hyd system on my old H with a one way cylinder I`m not familiar with the vent on the top of the filler cap on the Super M with the 2 way tower valve The manual says to close it when using the tower valve and open with just the belly pump alone. Is this correct? Thanks in advance for any info.
