Had one 656 gas,bought new in 69. It is excellent for lighter duty work as haying and planting. Heavy tillage and heavy pto like chopping corn where you have pto and drawbar it is not good at.

I do not know about the diesels, but a gas hydro against a gas gear drive, the hydro is not the economical choice. Plus the hydro will not stand up in heavy use. Would I have another? No.
