Allen, I feel I need to chip in here since I have an M set up that way for about 40 years now. My M is a 1950, but off hand not sure if it is an early or late one. The live pump and power steering was put on about 1963 or 1964. The tractor was either under a loader or a corn picker until 1984 when my dad died and the picker went on the 560 Diesel. Since then it has been a loader tractor. Anyway in the winter of 1968 and 1969 (the worst winter I can remember) my dad just got done pushing snow and the old M died on its way to the shed. Turned out the hub broke out of the camshaft gear. Not sure why, fluke, bad gear, or what, but not problems since then, but the dealer had one so we were off before the next storm hit to get it. We barely got back home before it started snowing to put it together for another push.
