After I found a new old stock TA at a flea market for $200, I replaced the bad TA in one of my MTA's. I also turned the flywheel and replaced the pressure plate and disc. If you are going to use the tractor, it makes sense to rehab those parts that are hard to reach when you can reach them. Check the IPTO shaft and bearings. They can sometimes sit in water and be ruined. I replaced one of the roller bearings. When you turn the flywheel and find hard spots on your fresh cut, take another 10 to 15 thousandths and they should vanish. Sounds like your motor is ok so I would start with the hard stuff first - double spliting the tractor. You will probably need a new U-joint for the streering shaft.
