Others may use different means to the end, here is mine. I would disconnect the pressure hose from the control valve system (the pressure out hose from the pump) and tie a clean shop towel sized rag around the end in a loose pocket wired on to prevent spraying. I would place this in an empty clean 5gal. pail. I would plug all ports except the top (filler) port on the belly pump. I would then use a tubeless tire valve stem with a rim end big enough to fit into and block the fill pipe on the belly pump. I would have a helper on the seat that can start and shut off the engine on command (reliably). Using a regulated air hose set at 15 psi, or a portable air tank with 15 psi in it, or a bicycle pump, I would pressurize the belly pump. Have the helper start the engine at just above idle. The air pressure will push hyd oil into the pump and prime it. just as soon as the oil starts to come out of the hose in the bucket, shut off the engine. Hook up the hose and you should be in business. Do not use shop pressure, I don't think the seals on parts of the belly pump are designed to take much pressure. Good luck, Jim Nicholson
