Is the belt pulley shaft seal leaking, or is it the flange that bolts to the housing which holds the seal? There is no gasket under that flange, only shims to set the gear lash. Thus everything must be really clean when assembled or the flange will leak. To replace the shaft seal, the assembly with the flange on the shaft must be pulled out. There are two bearings and a gear that must be removed from the shaft to replace the seal. You'll likely need access to a shop press to get it apart. For the rear axle seal, as others said, best to replace it which means removing the wheel from the axle. After that it' pretty straight forward as the seal is in holder which just unbolts and slides off the axle. Axle will need to be really clean when installing the new seal to avoid damage as it slides on over the axle. If the bearing has play in it, or there is a groove worn in the shaft, the new seal may not stop your leak.
