Your Sorghum mill is a reminder of our families' unit, The trans is setup very well. I do not know the lubrication method for F axles, however I do know from experiences of others that the final drive, and bearings will die a horrible death if not greased when used in the "verticle". If sealing up the cover and other leaking spots is not possible, I would use a liberal application of open gear grease (used on old cranes, winches, and logging equipment). This grease is nearly like a tar, it will not run off or sag from moving teeth. It is dead black, waterproof, and is applied with a stick/paddle. With the light loads of this neat rig, the open gear grease might work perfectly. The rag in the drain hole kinda indicates oil at that level. It will leave the bull gear/pinion high and dry on the top side! Just a thought for continued success. JimN
