Ford had a lot of problems with that 1/4" hex drive for their oil pumps. I think they were being replaced with the 5/16" hex. I think it drove the distributor too. It's been a while
since I replaced one. I had a 66 Mustang with the 200cid engine and I replaced the oil pump and distributor. Oil was coming up into the distributor and I just bought a rebuilt unit and it had the 5/16 shaft. Hal
PS: A lot of people were left stranded do to those hex drives failing.
