IH240

I just bought a 240 thats in wonderful shape. Its my first tractor. It ran wonderfully for a short time and then would cut off. I took off the gas tank and cleaned it. There was a lot of sediment. I cleaned the sediment bowl. But after starting it back up I had the same problem. It would run fine for a few minutes then almost stall then run fine for a few seconds etc... then stall. Could there be a similair problem in the carb. Is there any type of inline filter on this model? Thanks.
