Ashley: My suggestion jack each rear wheel, as jack takes weight of tractor, watch for looseness rear axle in relation to final drive. Good idea to remove caps from inner end of axle on back side of final drive. If those axle bearings get loose enough the grears can ride up on each other and break the final drive casting. There are also caps on final drive at outer end of upper shaft. Make sure those bearings are tight. If you suspect noise is in transmission again jack each rear wheel separately a block tractor securly or chain it to another vehicle. Start tractor put it in gear and let jacked wheel turn. Now, you can get sophisticated and get a stethoscope, an isolate what area noise is coming from. A cheap method is cut off your wife's broom or mop handle, put one end to your ear and other end various parts of transmission or final drive. Come to think of it the stethoscope may cause you less grief. You can also see quite a lot by removing transmission top around gear shift lever.

How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most
