I am using a 1256 International diesel to pull two, sometimes three J&M 385 bushel wagons out of the field. The clutch on this tractor is quite particular and I am not sure what to think. When I let out on the clutch it acts just like it should the tractor starts moving then I let it the rest of the way out the tractor goes faster almost like a two speed, it really jerks then. Is this a clutch adjustment issue? I had a manual I can't seem to find on how to adjust but I want some other opinions if this sounds like what is going on. The clutch does not slip. I just got the tractor, it is suppose to have a new ta and it has a big chrome stack on it, and it won't idle down like I want it to. Is it possible someone has done something to the clutch for pulling or does it sound like the clutch is why the guy got rid of the tractor? Any thoughts please? Ryan

On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
