The hydraulic system and the powersteering share fluid and pump (unless someone has modifies things) Ugly fluid means it probably has water in it and needs changed. (I use good hydraulic fluid from a quality lubricant store not a farm and ranch type store) See many posts on this forum for quality discussions. If the core plug is leaking from being worn, or pushed out, it is necessary to repair the wear before fixing the plug. Otherwise it just returns to bite the tender parts. A new core plug installed with the dome out and set with a wide flat drift so that the dome is flattened should fix the leak. Good luck JimN
