I agree with what El Toro said, except for one thing- Instead of torquing the bolts in steps increasing 10-15 ft/lbs each time, torque them in three steps, first to 30, then to 60, then to 90.

The problem with only increasing 10-15 pounds each step is that it takes "breakaway torque" to get the bolt turning. If you only try to increase 10 pounds each time, your torque wrench may click before the bolt even starts moving, fooling you into thinking that the bolt is tighter than it really is.

Same thing applies to the "bending beam" torque wrench.

No matter which type of torque wrench you"re using, make sure the bolt is turning as the wrench hits the spec you"re going for.
