Thanks for that tractor vet, i just asked dad and it sounds like it could have a stretched cable as it doesnt feel like it has any real tension in it. He did use it all the time but said that it went anyway, it been 15 yrs since he was at the farm so his memory isnt as clear as it was, but it seems like the cable could be the problem. He said that the lever amost used to spring into place, but it is just a constant slide now. I will check the cable and get back to you. Cheers Adam
