Be sure the points & condensor connections inside the mag have not "accidently" moved & are touching the metal housing thereby grounding the circuit. Take a 1/4" wide by 2" long strip of 600 grit Wet or Dry abrasive, double it over abrasive side out & insert between the points. Let the spring close the points and gently pull the abrasive out. Repeat a couple times. Clean the points with some carb cleaner or brake cleaner & blow dry with compressed air. Take a resistance tester(ohmmeter) & test resistance with the points closed. Should read zero; if not re-clean & re-test.
