Just got back from So Dakota pheasant hunting and the land owners 460 with Farmhand loader would not start. It had been running good, put in the shed and then would nt start. 1 Carb was taken off and cleaned, it is getting gas 2 New points and condenser put in. 3 got spark to the plugs 4 new dist cap and rotor, firing order is correct 5 used but good coil put in 6 During one test; Took dist cap off, coil wire off cap. touch block with coil wire, getting spark by coil wire by opening and closing the points. Is this Kosher or does it indicate a problem? Tryed starting by pulling in 4th gear, did not fire at all even with starting fluid.Smoke comes out of exhaust and carb when using starting fluid and choking We are stumped, Could not check compression, thinking broken cam shaft or gear..Any similar experience or suggestions?
