Sticking my head out here a bit, but there is a kill wire that grounds out the points through the ignition switch on most B&S motor powered mowers. This connection is normally connected to the points (may also be mounted on a plate that has throttle controls on it if the throttle can shut the motor off to like on 70’s vintage Snapper mowers). The other one could be for the generator as you suspected, again located under the flywheel. I’d pull the shroud and start looking for wire ends that match the torn off wires. Hope this helps…
