The M just stopped!

I was running a rotary mower for 3 hours and was headed up the
field road for home when my M just stopped running. It was
running like the champ it is when all of a sudden the engine
wound down to a stop. I tried to restart it but no luck. I had
compression, chocking brought out the smoke, so I knew I had
fuel. I figured it had to be electrical so I pulled the cap.
Everything looked good except when I went to pull off the rotor
to check the points I realized the rotor just spun around. I hope
its the pin that holds the gear on. Any other ideas? I do have a
M&W hydaulic system on it. I suspect there is a gear there, too.
