Our 460's system was a mess for years. When we installed a new pump, the high pressure made other problems in the system come to light. Before, the old pump was SO bad, it didn't matter if anything else was messed up. Couldn't tell one way or the other.

Anyway, the condition you describe certainly is similar to what we experienced. Our problem was solved by replacing a thoroughly damaged and plugged orifice and orifice screen.

All this rambling is assuming a 340 is made like a 460 with respect to the hydraulics. I think they are.
