Terry, I usually use a 5 amp minimum 50 PIV diode available from Rat Shack or any electronics shop. Thats more amps then actually needed, but the leads are big enough ad its heavy enough to wire easily. Dont forget to wire its + to switch/coil and - to alternator. Also dont forget I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the use of a safety current limiting protective 10 ohm resistor (can protect internal electronics from a current surge or voltage spoke) as an ounce or prevention may be worth more then a pound of cure. It cheap n easy only costing pennies and might prevent an expensive problem. Sure Ive seen em do fine without one but based on what Ive read and my engineerign experience, I wouldnt be without one but its your tractor n your call. Best wishes n God Bless yall John T, retired electrical engineer
