TD35, TD40 reliable, parts available?

I've located a TD35 or TD40 with a homemade hydraulic dozer blade that I may be able to get for just a few hundred dollars. I looked up the serial number once and I think it is a 1937 TD40. It has electric start and was painted red. I won't be using it very much - just dozing dirt and snow now and then. Does anyone have an opinion on the reliablity and parts availability of these tractors? Is the starting procedure simple enough someone can email it to me? I have a TD40 parts book, so I can identify the control levers. Is the starting similar to a TD14? I know I can find someone around here who knows how to start one of those. The tractor hasn't run in several years, so I'll have to drain gas and put in fresh. Diesel, too, or will old diesel burn pretty well? Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
