Just use your head installing the alternator, and it will fit without cutting the hood. There's plenty of room. Your problem is that you're trying to use the old bottom bracket, unmodified. As far as the engine goes, I believe you can have the M block bored for the Super M sleeves, but as far as the crank and cam, I don't know. It's my understanding that the Super M crank is heavier, with larger main and rod bearings.
