I have dealt with a similar problem for 20+ years. While though my lot is only 1/2 acre (suburban tract) it is heavily wooded with oak, maple and ash. Fall leaf management is a daunting task. I've tried about everything and found a walk behind blower works best - much easier than raking, mechanical sweeping or mulching. I blow the leaves into piles at the edge of the road where the town DPW picks 'em up a couple times a week with a large vacuum truck. But you gotta stay ahead of them!! When they really drop in late October, let the leaves accumulate for more than a couple days or let 'em get rained on (or worse yet snowed on...) and they become tough for even the blower to move. Also the more powerful the blower the better it works. Mine's a 5-1/2 HP and is OK for my yard. But the lawn service contractors working in the area use 7 and even 9 HP blowers.
