I am not familiar with the details of the remote valve set-up on a Super C. But most of the reasonably modern hydraulic systems have check valves and restrictors to keep equipment from crashing into the ground. You can't just swap hoses at the cylinder and expect everything to work right. You probably now have a restrictor that keeps your hitch from crashing up into the air.
