Thanks for the link. I ended up being able to find a machine shop here locally that could put in a new piece of metal and weld it.
The bolts that hold the steering yoke to the transmission housing sheared off and slammed into the oil pan. Evidently it"s happened before cause the previous owner had a gob of braze about 3/4 inch thick over an area about 6 inches across. That got knocked up and was hitting something inside. I guess it"s the oil pump...Thanks for the info.
