If the journals are very round (Measured with micrometers in five radial planes and across the width of the journal, edge, center, and other edge), then I would do the following. If the new .002 under bearings still measure more than .003 on any bearing, they can be shimmed with .0005 steel shim stock. (placed under the insert, between the rod and the inserts). This stuff is very thin, cut to exact size minus 1/16th inch in length only, no overlap, and it will do the job. The bearing "crush" will hold it in place. JimN
