Rusty: As a matter of fact a combine head is nothing more than a snapper head. I bought a NH 890 forage harvester in 1975, equiped it with a two row snapper head for harvesting ground ear corn. It was too slow and didn't utilize 1066 hp very well. I considered reversing the travel of my 560, same as you would for a forklift, installing a 4 or 6 row corn with a cross conveyor for loading wagons, then use the 890 as a stationary grinder. When I got the cost all totaled up, decided to buy the combine instead. All you need do is close the concave a bit, up the rpm on cylinder, combine will harvest cob as well. It also harvested a lot of other crops.
