We bought a brand new 6 volt to put in one of our tractors. After an hour of running, it started to drip battery acid out from under the cover. I inspected its markings. According to the markings, it was not a brand new battery, because it had been made over 3 years before we bought it. Took it back to the battery store, and the manager said we were lying, and that they don"t carry batteries that old on hand. He also said that the records for purchasing it weren"t in the computer, so it can"t be true. He then said in our case, he needed a receipt. We showed him the receipt and said that there is no way that could happen, but that he would exchange it. I think that battery was sitting in back, and had been turned in for warranty. The kid who took care of us couldn"t find one, so just filled up that one and handed it to us. I can"t prove it, but at least we got a different one.
