clarence: Both are correct for specific years. Someone must have changed the grill in your tractor. Starting in 1958 the grill bars ran horizontal. With the introduction of 04-06 tractors early in 1963 the 140 grill was changed to vertical bar lines matching the larger tractors. Even when the big tractors changed again in 67-68 the 140 retained the vertical 04-06 grill. I really wouldn't bother to make your tractor correct if I were you. I never had a 140 with the horizontal bar grill, however on the larger tractors such as 460-560 the grill never would stay tight. Always had a rattle or vibration, or worse still falling off and you would run over it, then after that it just got worse.
