Nothing. This is one of the places where Mother Mc. cheated a little. The only time these gear ends move against eachother is whem one wheel turns faster than the other. I have worked on these tractors and if the end play from wear is not taken up by removing shims from the pinion shaft bearings the pinon gears wiii cock and pull from ome side of the gear and if enough load is applied the corner of the gear will break off.
