400 locked up

Was pushing dirt up hill to level and pushing in clutch & roll back down. It made a screeching sound like brake noise and killed motor when I let clutch out. I can shift all gears, when clutch is depressed, can roll tractor by hand both directions. took cover off of TA, can turn gears till I let out clutch. Low side of TA didn't work when I bought it. Any ideas????
