I live immediately south of Cedar Falls, in the rural north end of Hudson. Smith's is good. Actually, in the limited experience I had with parts at Walterman's, they were OK too. As I understand it, Leon Walterman is going through divorce and his wife was the whistle blower for his dealership. Case-IH is apparently forcing his dealership into bankruptcy. The paper said he owed Case-IH some $20 - $25 milloin, but that's not surprising considering the number of combines he usually has in inventory. It was also reported that some machines were double financed and that some of the money supposedly on deposit for next fall's combine leases has disappeared. Without advance notice even to employees, the doors were locked for some time. Titan is a Case-IH dealer conglomerate from the Dakotas and for now is operating the former Walterman's. Now they answer the phone "Dike Implement". Titan is also Smith's parent company. Have you ever attended the JD Collector's club that meets at Antique Acres north of Cedar Falls usually at 7:00pm the last Monday of the month? There are many collectors there, mostly JD but others too. I have two old Deeres and just recently got a Super C.

I’d probably plowed about 3000 acres (in my head anyway) by the time they found me. This is where my love for tractors started and has only gotten worse in my tender 50 yrs on this “green planet”. I’m par
