captain: No I wont laugh, I have used this many times. What's more it will fix a far larger hole than one could even imagine. First time I ever saw it used was in 1972, new 50 series Chevy truck was truning on new crushed gravel and somehow a stone flipped from a front wheel and put a hole in rad. The stream was size of a lead pencil. A good soul on sight jumped in his car went to corner store and back with one of those cylinder containers size of a small soup can of pepper. He dumped the whole container in rad and started adding water. Everyone laughed, including the owner of the truck. (my dad) Within 5 min. the leak had stopped. My dad operated that truck for 6 years in which he put a 100,000 miles on it with that pepper patch. I've used this numerous times myself, have seen others use it. More often than not it became a permanent fix. Your right it does not plug up heater or rad cores.
