Lloyd: If you put that pipe above your head level, (which by the way is necessary to keep exhaust out of your face) the only time you even notice extra noise is when you start to move or accelerate with any of the gas letter series Farmalls. Even with a straight pipe they are quiet alongside the 60 to 100 hp diesels with muflers that followed.
